| Underground head and deep digging vinyl pin up Nicholas Lutz keeps a pretty low profile for a man who garners such ardent fanboy-ism. But here he pops his nut above the parapet for a new EP on his My Own Jupiter label. It finds him link up with Tunik for three new, head thrashing tunes of futuristic techno tension. ‘Sentimental Stab’ has edgy synths and icy, chattery percussion all underpinned by a broken beat. It’s intense and complex. Barnt layers in some more rolling, heavy kicks to get you deep in the visceral groove then ‘Sombras’ mixes up electro, breaks, wave and EBM into a gnarly big of snapping drum work that cannot fail to make you march. ‘The Rupture’ closes out with a more far-sighted feel, full of rueful pads and oversized hi hats. |
